BBC Two’s The Choir – Sing While You Work
In 2012 our very own Manvinder Rattan made his television debut. Manvinder took on a guest role as a judge in the hugely popular BBC series with Gareth Malone, The Choir. The series, titled Sing Whilst You Work, ran on BBC TWO in Autumn 2012 and saw Malone train choirs from four different British workplaces who competed against each another in ‘sing-offs’. The sing-offs were judged by Manvinder, alongside gospel singer Ruby Turner and the retired Director of Music at Eton, Ralph Allwood.
Our involvement in the series meant that Summer School 2012 took on an exciting twist when we were visited by the producers of The Choir. They visited to film learning materials to accompany the programme and you can view our contribution on the links below.
See Catherine Beddison discuss warming your choir up and finding your voice and Manvinder talking about how to form a workplace choir, plus other helpful tips here.
Businesses and organisations are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits of singing in the workplace with many setting up their own choirs for their members and employees. Crucially, singing can help people break through self-perceived barriers to creativity, foster team work and self-confidence and enhance employee engagement.
Sing for Pleasure offers tailor-made workshops that can last from as little as 30 minutes to a full day, requiring no written music (or knowledge of how to read music) and guarantees that the group will be singing in four part harmony within one hour. Please contact us to discuss how we can help meet your development needs in this area.
